Ian Streets, Managing Director of About Access, has been appointed as the Access Association’s representative on BSI Standards as it works to improve access to the built environment.
As a member of the National Register of Access Consultants and the Access Association, Ian Streets works with BSI Standards, the UK’s national standards body, to advise on appropriate designs for buildings and their surrounding areas.
About Access works with organisations of all sizes around the country in the public and private sectors, and on all property types from listed properties to those still on the drawing board.
“Businesses generally are aware that their premises must be accessible to disabled people but many organisations do not know what to look for,” said Ian.
“Sometimes it is not about physical barriers but has more to do with procedures and policies, so our work ranges from assessing the physical features of a building to reviewing customer service.”
